Free forever, not free until a counter runs out
PrintScreen is a free Windows 10 and 11 screenshot app: press Prt Scr, select an area, then copy it, save it locally or get a short shareable link. There is no trial period and no watermark, which means no countdown toward a paid version to switch to later โ the restriction most screenshot tools build in somewhere is simply not part of this one at all.
Many free tools cap something quietly, without saying so upfront: a number of exports, a number of days, a watermark that appears after the tenth use of the day. PrintScreen's restriction list is short enough to state directly, including what specifically is not restricted at all.

No trial period to run out
PrintScreen is described as free forever, not free for a trial window that ends on a set date. There is no day count after which the tool starts asking for payment, and no reduced feature set that appears once a trial period would normally end, because there is no trial period built into it anywhere in the product.
No watermark stamped on the result
The image you capture has no watermark added to it anywhere on the file. That is a specific restriction other free screenshot tools sometimes apply after a certain number of uses, and PrintScreen does not โ the file you save is the file you get, without a mark identifying it as coming from a free tier of anything, ready to send on as it is.
One key does the whole job
Prt Scr, select the area, then copy, save locally or generate a short shareable link โ that is the entire flow from start to finish. There is no separate paid step needed to reach the sharing-link option specifically, and no account gate anywhere in that sequence, on the free tier or on any tier at all.
The real restriction: Windows only
PrintScreen runs on Windows 10 and 11 and nowhere else; on macOS or Linux, its own site says to use the operating system's built-in screenshot tools instead of its own. That is a platform limit, not a pricing one, and it is stated plainly on the site itself rather than discovered later by trying to install it somewhere it simply does not run at all.
What is not included at any tier
There is no combined capture of a long scrolling page into one continuous image, no arrows or markup tools, no blur, no text editing on the image and no text-recognition feature. None of those become available with payment, because there is no payment involved at all โ they are simply outside what the tool does, on Windows or on any other platform, at any price point.
